IntelliJ (jetbrains.org) Is OpenSource - Use It For Free!
The IntelliJ is opensource (jetbrains.org) - you can download it without any registration and use it for free. Not all features, however, are available in the community edition. These are very good news - especially for the adoption in the enterprise sector.
Downloaded and be using it now...
I have got a one-year license for v4.5 before, and I was impressed by its Refactoring ...
Now I found its code analysis is so powerful...

I've tried the Intellij IDEA 8.1.3 recently to test JAX-WS (on WAS 7).
But Netbeans is the best for JAX-WS development.

First, it's good for Swing community as IDEA is Swing-based; and it's good for competition too.
Secondly, I wonder if we are going to see IDE crossovers as IDEA is now open source.
Anyway, it's a very interesting move.

wow that is cool.
i just used it to checkout a maven project from sourceforge and it mostly worked. only one fatal ui error popped up (swing tree element 'index out of bounds' like exception). i could then run and debug the app using the maven runner and the maven jetty plug-in (as nice work around the fact that the community edition does not have server configurations to run the code within).
this ubuntu hardy netbook has a short screen height and the large dialog boxes for managing settings kept resizing and the layout manager kept continuously moving the buttons around the screen so I had to use the keyboard to drive the ui which is never the first instinct when running a new app.
it was quite impressive how it managed to figure out what to do with the svn url and the maven project without much user assistance. very professional.
it seems to be let down by swing on sun jdk 1.6.0_16 on ubuntu hardy though.
eclipse has no such problems but requires that you add in subclipse and m2eclipse to do what intellij community could do out of the box.

Sorry this is completely unrelated to you post but since you are an expert I just be so free;) :
Can you maybe tell me the intrinsic reasons why in the JPA 1.0 EntityManager when retrieving an Object via find, you have to deal with null if not found, but when using the Query interface via createQuery getResultList throws a NoResultException when not found.
Maybe i am missing something but I feel its very inconsistent for a Language, and actually I had to do a lot of redesing because of changing from a simple finder to a more fine grained query using the query interface.
